The UPS file patch format was designed to be a direct replacement for IPS. The specification for the UPS patch format do support any file size. It is only limited by the program or operating system that is used. But thanks to a condensed pointer encoding method, the file size can be infinite. UPS is completely future proof in that regard. Toolyze UPS Patcher was written because the other UPS patch tools had some flaws and missing options. The main flaw was that none of them was able to patch files bigger than 2 GByte.
